Benefit concert will feature Central Catholic musicians
Portland artist/activist group While Rome Burns will hold a benefit concert with performances by three acts comprised of Central Catholic High School students: The Central Catholic Jazz Band, The Brat Pack (horn-based jazz quartet), and hip-hop artist Bird Bennett '19.

Join us in supporting our student musicians on February 24 from 5-7 pm at Mississippi Pizza (3552 N Mississippi Ave).

The concert is a benefit sponsored by While Rome Burns and 100% of the money raised ($10 donation at the door) will go directly to P:ear, a non-profit that assists homeless youths in Portland.

The Central Catholic High School Jazz Band has been under the direction of Chris McLean for 10 years, constantly evolving and performing music in all contemporary styles, from traditional jazz and blues, to funk, soul, and experimental. They perform at a myriad of contests and festivals throughout the year, as well as regular school events like the always popular Open Mic Nights. This evening’s performance will be peppered with Latin samba and bossa, Frank Sinatra, and West Coast laid back jazz.

The Brass Pack is a group of  instrumentalists playing new-style upbeat instrumentals in the style of Lucky Chops and Too Many Zooz. Uptempo dance beats on saxes, trumpet, and drums. The Brass Pack is Hans Bestel '19, Bryan Cochran '19, Wheaton Kearney '19, and Vincent Liu '19.

Opening the show will be senior Tristen "Bird" Bennett. Bird is a hip hop musician, lyricist, songwriter.
