Central Catholic is excited to welcome Van Mathias as the new Assistant Coach of the Men's and Women's Swim program. 

Coach Mathias first began swimming when he was eight years old, and swam competitively at the Multnomah Athletic Club for ten years. He later graduated from Beaverton High School where he won four state-championship titles and set two state records.

Mathias pursued his swimming career at Indiana University, becoming a pillar in the program's success. A Big-Ten Champion, NCAA All-American, and school record holder, Mathias' passion for the sport of swimming transcends his list of accomplishments.

Assistant Coach Mathias brings profound swimming experience and knowledge to the Central Catholic swim team this year. As assistant coach, Mathias seeks to bring a positive and influential presence to the pool deck so that student-athletes can flourish and enjoy the sport of swimming just as he did.
