Coach Ellis is from Arlington, Texas, where he played receiver at Mansfield Summit High School. After graduating, he merited a full-ride scholarship to attend Montana State University from 2010-to 2014 as a three-year starter while winning three consecutive Big-Sky conference champions and achieving his bachelor's degree in Sociology/Criminology. Additionally, Coach Ellis has coached for seven seasons within the Three-River-League as a former collegiate athlete. 

In addition, he obtained his Master's degree in Special Education from Portland State University and is a Coordinator for the Student Support Department at Central Catholic High School. Coach Ellis is married to his wife, Lashawnta and they have a 1-year french bulldog named Simba. He enjoys fly-fishing, golfing, wake surfing, chess, and spending quality time with friends and family.
