Building on the service experiences completed during their freshman and sophomore years, students will select one of the four service focus areas and partner with a nonprofit organization of their choice.
Beginning in junior year, students will research potential agencies, discern where they feel called to serve, and connect with an organization that aligns with their interests and values.
As part of this process, students must:
- Submit a Service Proposal and Plan of Action by the end of the first semester of junior year.
- Complete 30 hours of direct service with a single agency within a three-month period. All service hours must be completed by the end of the first semester of senior year.
- Submit a guided service journal reflection in Canvas at the following milestones:
- Five (5) hours
- 10 hours
- 20 hours
- 30 hours
Reflections must be submitted during the same month the service hours are completed in order to be valid and to ensure the experience remains intentional of ongoing engagement with the organization.
Through this project, students are invited to deepen their commitment to service, build lasting relationships within the community, and reflect on how their gifts can contribute to the common good.
