Scholarships for Returning Students

Central Catholic offers two types of scholarships, those where financial need is one of the award criteria and merit-only scholarships, where the applicant is evaluated solely on their academic achievements and engagement in the life of the school (activities, clubs, service etc.). Some scholarships are awarded for only one year, some are awarded to just freshmen, and some are renewable for more than one year.

Many of our scholarships have financial need as a criteria, so those scholarships are awarded in conjunction with our tuition assistance award process. Using the information from the FACTS form that all families must complete if they want tuition assistance. In addition to financial need, the committee prioritizes the applications according to other criteria as specified by the scholarship donor. 

The merit award process is similar, except data from the FACTS form (relating to financial need) is not taken into account during the evaluation and selection process.

Yes. We do not share the data used to evaluate tuition assistance and scholarship applications, primarily because the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits the sharing of this information.

No, Central Catholic does not award scholarships based solely on athletic accomplishments. However, sometimes our students who participate in sports receive scholarship awards, both merit and need-based. The scholarship committee considers engagement in the life of the school (clubs, leadership, student life etc.) when evaluating scholarship applications. We estimate that 99% of our student body participates in at least one club or activity each year (activities, clubs, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Masses, retreats etc.). 100% of our student body participates in service, which is also considered in our evaluation process.
