Thomas Ferroggiaro '22 Named MAC Scholar Athlete
Even in a sports drought, Central Catholic is proud of its student athletes’ accomplishments.

Thomas Ferroggiaro ’22 was recently named a recipient of MAC Scholar Athlete Scholarship. This honor goes to high school sophomores who have shown leadership in athletics, their community, and the classroom. At Central Catholic, Thomas has been a varsity member of Central Catholic's baseball team since his freshman year and was a starting player for the 2019 state runner-up team. He is an active member of student council, a proud Rambassador, and is the co-founder of the sock club.

Said the sophomore, “Having academics and athletics in your life makes it busy. I get up early in the morning to get my work done so that I have time after school to focus on my athletics. I also know that I won’t be able to achieve my goals if I am only strong at one or the other. On one level, math helps me find my batting average, along with my on-base percentage, and other stats. On another level, math and other subjects help me with problem solving and strategy that help me become a better player.”

When asked what his favorite sports memory was, Thomas answered, “Playing in the State Championship at Volcano Stadium for 13 innings in 95 degree weather in front of a lot of fans.”

Congratulations Thomas and Go Rams!
