2021 Rose Festival

2021 Rose Festival

The 2021 Rose Festival Court application process has looked a little different this year. Like many organizations, the Rose Festival Court had to adapt their processes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The speeches, interviews, and announcements have all moved to digital platforms. Despite these changes, this virtual format has allowed for more opportunities to reach students, and even involve past Central Catholic Princesses. This year, Central Catholic has four outstanding candidates for the 2021 Rose Festival Court:

Madi Cooper
Kendall Novak
Elle Stephenson
Tamia Thirdgill

The application process for the Rose Festival Court includes an interview with a panel of community judges. In order to prepare for these interviews, Central Catholic’s previous Rose Festival Princesses (and Queens!) took time to speak with the candidates. They gave them tips for the interview, including suggestions on what to talk about and good interview practices. The alumni that spoke with our candidates included: Katelyn Callaghan-Manning ‘05, Siohban O’Malley ‘10, and Kate Sinnot ‘12. Katelyn and Kate were two of the three Central Catholic Rose Festival Queens!

In addition to community interviews, the candidates had to prepare and record speeches that explored the 2021 Rose Festival theme: Hope Reigns. They answered the question, "How can the Rose Festival bring hope to the community as the world reopens?" They spoke about topics ranging from the pandemic to mental health to social injustice, and how hope reigns in the face of all these challenges.

The entire Central Catholic student body watched these speeches and voted for their candidate on March 18 and 19. On Tuesday, April 6, we will hold the Rose Festival Assembly, where we will be announcing the 2021 Central Catholic Rose Festival Princess.

This incredible group of young women truly embody all four of Central Catholic’s character virtues of kindness, conscientiousness, resilience, and integrity. We are incredibly blessed and grateful to have these young women represent our school.
