Collage of current and past RAMS students and Peer Mentors

In our Winter Magazine, we’re proud to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the RAMS Program, a program that has transformed lives, built community, and opened doors for so many students.

At the heart of it all are the Peer Mentors, whose friendship, compassion, and commitment have helped shape the program and support RAMS students every step of the way.

This feature highlights the stories, growth, and lasting impact of the program over the past decade, and all the people who make it so special.

Celebrating Indigenous Heritage Month: Honoring Identity, Storytelling, and Community at Central Catholic

Central Catholic celebrates Indigenous Heritage Month by uplifting the voices, histories, and cultures of Indigenous peoples within our community. The Indigenous Student Union (ISU), led by Lilliana Wissel ’26, creates a year-round space for identity, belonging, and storytelling. With contributions from students like Marcus Morton ’27 and alumni such as Emma Smith ’21—who developed the land acknowledgement we use today—ISU continues to strengthen representation and inclusivity on campus.

Emmett Brennan '73 posed next to a statue

More than five decades after first walking through Central Catholic’s doors, Emmett Brennan ’73 still credits the school with shaping his outlook on life. As a shy student who found confidence through caring teachers, especially Sr. Mary Lonergan, OSF, Emmett discovered a lifelong love of learning and critical thinking that guided his career and worldview. Grateful for the foundation Central Catholic provided, he has chosen to leave a legacy gift to ensure future generations experience the same transformative education. His continued support reflects a deep belief in the power of faith, compassion, and education to change lives.

This summer, Central Catholic students explored how art can be a prophetic voice for truth, empathy, and healing. Through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching, they reflected on their values and hopes for the world, resulting in unique works of art across a wide range of mediums. Each piece expresses faith in action, highlighting themes of justice, compassion, and human dignity. Throughout the year, these works will be displayed on campus, inviting the community to experience how creativity and faith intersect to inspire change and hope.

LSU Leaders Posing at LSU Alumni Luncheon

From September 15 to October 15, Central Catholic celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the traditions, cultures, and contributions of Latino and Hispanic students, alumni, and families. The Latino Student Union (LSU) fosters connection, pride, and belonging, empowering students to celebrate their heritage and advocate for representation. Current students and alumni alike highlight the importance of community, family, and cultural pride in shaping identity and fostering a sense of belonging that extends well beyond the month of celebration.

The Summer 2025 magazine features Dani Klupenger '09, who chose Central Catholic for its competitive basketball program—but it became the foundation for so much more. From playing Division I basketball at Stony Brook to building a thriving career in sports broadcasting, Dani has worked with the NFL, NBC Sports, FanDuel, and The Tennis Channel. Through it all, she credits her success to the confidence, faith, and determination shaped during her time at Central Catholic.
