For many students, the Search retreat is a highlight of their time at Central Catholic.
Central Catholic offers the search retreat in December, February, and April. Search is an optional three day, two-night, student-led retreat. It is open to members of the junior and senior classes. The student and adult leadership team meets for the eight weeks before organizing and preparing for their leadership in the upcoming retreat. During the retreat, students share personal stories centered on the themes of:
- Why am I here?
- Who am I?
- Faith and Spirituality
- Turning Points
- Forgiveness
There is space for approximately fifty retreatants on each retreat held at Camp Eagle Fern in Estacada. The days are filled with a rigorous 7:30 am-10:30 pm agenda. Students spend their time "unplugged," reflecting on their relationships with God, family, and friends while listening to talks, responding in journals and small groups, and quiet time with God. Everyone has a story worth telling, and everyone is welcome to embark on this journey.
The other retreat activities seek to promote and build community, foster trust and openness, and encourage reflection. Students speak of their joys, hopes, and sorrows in ways new and rewarding to them. Family and friends become integral to participants' thoughts and prayers.
