 The Central Catholic class of 2013 had their first official gathering during the Freshman Sneak Peek held on campus. More than half of the class was on hand to get to know each other over hamburgers and icebreaker activities. This event marks the beginning of their four years together as a class. Welcome Class of 2013!
Teen Cardiac Screening
Often times our teen athletes appear to be in such amazing condition that we are unaware there can be an underlying heart condition. This was the case for David Heller, a student and basketball player at Central Catholic who lost his life to an enlarged heart. After playing a vigorous game of basketball, David went home and passed away in his sleep. His death has led to an increased awareness of addressing cardiac health in teen athletes. On July 18, Legacy Health is offering a low cost screening at the Memorial Coliseum, Georgia Pacific Room, for all teen athletes.
A team of physicians, nurses and EKG technicians will be on site to perform teen cardiac screenings, including: A full cardiac health exam (blood pressure, height and weight); an electrocardiogram (EKG), which detects abnormal heart rhythms; and a detailed family history. This family-friendly event also includes sponsor giveaways and refreshments.
Appointments are required. Please call 503-335-3500 to make an appointment. Registration deadline: July 10, 2009. The cost is only $10 payable at registration (fee assistance is available).
Please allow 30 minutes for the screening tests. The teen's parent or guardian must be present.
