TODAY

PLEASE WELCOME TODAY’S VISITORS – Stewart, Nazzy and Emma.

NHS MEETING – (2/23) at lunch in the PAC. It should be a brief meeting, so see you there!

THERE WILL BE A SOFTBALL MEETING in Room 131 at lunch for all girls interested in playing this spring. We will be discussing tryouts.

JAPAN CLUB MEETING at lunch today (Thursday). If you ordered lunch, make sure you make it to the meeting!

FEEL LIKE TALKING ABOUT IT? Peer Mediators will be available in Room 131 during lunch to listen and offer support in a private setting.  If talking would help, they are there for you.  Check it out.

AFTER SCHOOL STUDY HALL – is Monday through Thursday from 2:40-3:40 in Room 111.  All students are welcome to come for a quiet place to study on all days. If you need extra help in a particular subject, Monday is Foreign Language; Tuesday is English; Wednesday is Math; and Thursday is Science.

IN LESS THAN ONE WEEK SPRING SPORT TRYOUTS BEGIN ON FEBRUARY 27TH – Be sure to have your paperwork:  physical, code of conduct and emergency card, completed and turned in to the Athletic Office ASAP and no later than today, 2/23.  All forms are on the website. You will not be able to tryout if all the paperwork is not finished. Check with Rick Potter to be sure your forms are complete.

ALL 4th PERIOD TEACHERS – Remember to put your recycling outside of your classroom at the end of the day for pickup. Thank you.

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK FOR SET BUILDING FOR “GOOD NEWS!” We will be working tonight and Friday evening from 6 - 9PM. All are welcome to come and help out with the show!  Anyone interested in being on the Running Crew of the show should see Mr. Graff today.
 
NEW INFORMATION

AN OPEN MIKE NITE LIKE NONE WE’VE SEEN BEFORE IS APPROACHING!    This will be a big event and the only one of it’s kind – a big evening for you.  Stay tuned!  More information will be coming soon!

THE OREGON FOOD BANK is now open to sophomores and juniors in need of Independent Service credit.  And, a reminder that the Daughters of Norway project is also available for Independent credit.

THE CARE CLUB (Care Awareness Reaching Everyone) will meet next Wednesday (2/29) during lunch to plan the next service project for this semester.  If you are interested in learning more about those who live with a disability, please plan on joining us for this meeting.  See senior Claire Rischiotto or Mrs. Sinnott in the Service Office if you would like to be a part of this club but cannot attend the meeting.

REMINDERS

“GOOD NEWS!” TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE IN THE BOOKSTORE.  Adult tickets are $15.00; students and senior citizens are $10.00.  Performances are March 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 at 7:30pm and March 11th at 2:00pm.  All seats are reserved.  For large groups – reserve all seats at the same time.

ALL TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES – please come to a short meeting this Friday (2/24) in the New Gym at lunch.  See Coach Frank if you cannot make it.

GIP’S – are due this Friday (2/24). Be sure to get yours signed by teachers and parents. Turn them in to the Main Office.

GIRLS ALLIANCE will meet on Friday, March 2 during second Rep and through lunch.  Pizza will be served.  To sign up bring $3 to Ms. Reuscher or Ms. Bruce by Wednesday, February 29th.

ALL STUDENTS PLANNING ON TAKING AN AP EXAM(S) please pick up the AP Student and Parent Bulletin and registration forms in the Main Office as soon as possible.  The deadline to register is March 2, 2012.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Any questions see your AP teacher or Mrs. Murphy.  The exams begin May 7th.

ALL THOSE WHO WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND ACADEMIC AWARDS NIGHT, please pick up your certificate in the Main Office

COMMUNITY SERVICE

THE MARCH SCHOOL SPONSORED SERVICE PROJECTS are now available.  The projects are:  The Oregon Food Bank and the Special Olympics Regional Basketball tournament.   See Mrs. Sinnott or Mrs. Gianotti for more information in the Service Office.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE for seniors who would like to be recognized at graduation with a Service Honor Cord.  A minimum of 120 hours of service must be performed and documented to earn the cord.

THE FOURTH ANNUAL CENTRAL CATHOLIC LOCKS OF LOVE EVENT – will be on April 11th here in the Conference Room.  Stylists from the Magnum Opus Salon will be here to cut the hair of all donors.  The hair can be of any length—sign-up in the Service Office if you would like to be a part of this annual event.
INDEPENDENT SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES –
St. John the Baptist Catholic School Spaghetti Dinner Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 11:30am-2:30pm or 2:30-5:30pm Martha and Mary Hospice Home in SE Portland is in need of help February 25th  from10:00am to 2:00pm.  Student volunteers are needed to create a garden space.
