February Alumni Newsletter - 2013

Alumni Association Board Members are excited to be working on events for 2013.  Plans for the John Shepard Classic, Ram Open, Reunion Weekend, and the Women's Wine tour are underway.   Don't let these events sneak up on you, it will be Spring before you know it and our basketball tournament will begin on May 13.  A few short months later we will be swinging our golf clubs at Heron Lakes for the Ram Open and getting together for reunions.  After basketball and golf, the ladies of Central Catholic will do a little wine tasting in October.  Whew!  It's going to be a busy year filled with fun activities and volunteer opportunities.

John Shepard Classic

May 13 - May 18

We are knocking this tournament out of the park this year! Drew Carney, from KGW, will broadcast live from Central Catholic on Tuesday morning May 14 to help us kick-off the JSC.  Bring your friends and family with you to cheer on your favorite team.

Eligible Alumni graduated between 1942 and 2008. 

The Alumni Board has planned some new activities including a family 3 on 3 tournament and the opening of the Ram store and the snack shack throughout the tournament.  Bring your families and make a night of it.

Ram Open

August 2

 ***We have a new location this year***

We have moved the Ram Open to Heron Lakes golf Course in North Portland.  

Nothing else has changed other than the location.  The cost will remain $125, include drink tickets, a cart, a BBQ dinner and a raffle.  Come one, come all!  

Registration will be available beginning March 1 through the website.

  Reunion Weekend

August 3

Celebrating Marquis reunions this year will be the classes of 1953 and 1963.  The school will host dinner (site TBD due to summer construction), provide name tags, memorabilia and a fantastic evening of reconnecting with old friends.  

If you are a member of the class of '53 or '63, invitations will be mailed to you with the specifics of the event.

The class of 1953 is celebrating their 60th reunion this summer

Amateur Radio Club (ARC)

"The Central Catholic High School Amateur Radio Club, as it is officially called, is a club designed to promote interest in the field of 'ham' radio.  The club has a federally licensed radio station under call letters W7TKA.  The station, only running 1/25 the power consumed by an ordinary classroom light bulb, has contacted Tacoma, Camas, and Lebanon in the first two days of operation.  Though we have only a few members now, our club shows signs of being the outstanding club in the school's activities next year."

Coach Mulder

"An unprecedented record has been achieved by Central's basketball coach, Bob Mulder.  In his four years at Central Catholic his teams have scored 102 victories, have returned from the annual tournaments with coveted ratings of fifth, fourth, and second place in the state of Oregon, and to top this enviable record, he has provided the All-State Team with at least one player each year...it is with deep regret that Central bids Coach Mulder goodby, and with sincere appreciation, good luck!"
