MUSIC
Everyone has a 'voice'
Music has an important place in the Central Catholic community and it is expressed in many different ways:
Instrumental Music
A range of Band programs are available from the beginner to the virtuoso. Bands include instrumentation reflective of the interests and skills of the current students - woodwinds, horns, percussion, strings and more. We also feature a classic Jazz Band program, focusing on Jazz in both small combinations and the "Big Band" styles.

All students have the opportunity to perform their music in the appropriate settings - liturgy music at school masses, energetic "pep band" at athletic events and high-end, regional competitions.
Electronic Music Lab
Electronic Music Lab offers students the opportunity to break from the ordinary and develop skills in music production using high-end software applications. Music Lab skills are developed for those who wish to specialize in production and for the musician wanting to branch out further. Advanced options include music applications for film production, live performance recording and more.
Drum Line

Hear the joy. The Central Catholic Drum Line ensemble performs straight-ahead, high-powered cadences and pieces for athletic events, assemblies and outside events needing ENERGY.
Current students, middle school students and adults are welcome to join in the group. A basic sense of rhythm is all that is required.
Concert Choir
Concert Choir is open to anyone with a desire to sing quality choral literature from all eras of music and a diversity of cultural styles. The choir will sing at some liturgy services, regional and national contests, community events, and a winter and spring concert.

Four Singers and a Drummer

Each year the Oregon Music Educators’ Association holds a Convention and auditions 1000's of high school music students for the honor of singing in the Oregon State Choir. Only 150 students are selected of which four are Central Catholic music students. The State Wind Ensemble chooses only 20 musicians out of 100's and Central Catholic is proud to have one of its drummers represented. This is a tremendous honor for our students and a reflection on the quality of our Music Program under the direction of Charles Walsh.
Each student records an audition tape and sends it to a panel of music teachers that pick the honor choirs and bands. The students selected will perform at the 4 day convention January 15-18th in Eugene for music educators in Oregon. It is the most selective ensemble in Oregon and an exciting honor to be picked. The students stay in a hotel, rehearse for 3 days with hundreds of other students, and perform concerts the final day of the convention. Conductors come from all over the country to work with the ensembles.
