As a member of the Central Catholic Ram Football Program, you are privileged to participate in

a brand new off-season program that will enable you and your teammates to prepare for the

2008 season.  This program will run from January 29th through the end of Daily Doubles.  You and your teammates will train your minds, bodies and spirit in this program.  The only thing you are asked to do by your teammate

and coaches is give your best

effort in each of the following areas.  It is our belief that we will motivate each other to work hard in all the areas, which will lead to success on and off the field.

ACADEMICS

SOCIAL INTERACTIONS / POSITIVE CHARACTER MODELING

SCHOOL BEHAVIOUR

STRENGTH TRAINING AND CONDITIONING

Each of you will be drafted on to a team by our leadership council, the leadership council members will serve as the captains of the team.   Each of you will have the opportunity to earn as well as loose points for your team in the four areas.  We will tally these points approximately every two weeks to determine a team winner; the team with the highest total will receive prizes for their accomplishment.  The team with the lowest total will have some type of duty to perform over the next two week period.

The following will be how points are earned in each area:

ACADEMICS

We will have 5 grade check periods during the second semester; you will find these dates on your calendar.  You will be required to pick up a grade check form outside on the weight room office and have it filled out and returned on the assigned dates –

February 16, March 14, April 18, May 16 & May 30.

Each member of the team who turns in their completed grade sheet will earn 1 point for their team; each member of the team who does not turn in their grade sheet will earn -1 point for their team.

Each member of the team will earn points based on their actual grades at the time of the check.  An A = 3 points, B = 2 points, C = 1 point, D = - 2 points and F = - 4 points

Any member of any team who has a D or F during the semester will be required to set up a plan of assistance with Coach Mick, failure to do so will result in a further loss of points for that individual’s team.

SOCIAL INTERACTIONS / POSITIVE CHARACTER MODELING

At any point a coach or teacher who sees you have a positive interaction with another student and teacher you can earn bonus points for your team.  Depending on the act or interaction you could earn up to 3 points for your team.  For example, being recognized by the school as a person for others would result in bonus points being awarded

On the other hand, if you are seen behaving inappropriately or acting in a manor that is not positive character modeling you can lose up to 3 points for your team.  For example, mistreatment of others in the hallways or classroom or being present at a party that had drugs or alcohol involved would lead to the loss of points for your team.

SCHOOL BEHAVIOUR

Any member who is seen going out of their way to help others, carrying items for teachers, opening doors for others, volunteering to help with various activities can result in earning up to 3 points for your team.

Any member who receives JUG for any reason can lose up to 3 points for their team.  Misbehavior in the classroom or hallways is a more serious offense than a tardy to class.  Therefore, the point value will be based on the reason for the JUG offence.

STRENGTH TRAINING AND CONDITIONING

Each member of the program will be evaluated on their work ethic in our off-season strength and conditioning program.  We have 88 off-season workouts, spring practice, 7 on 7, Comanche Club and Daily Doubles on the calendar.

Each time you enter the weight room or participate in a speed and agility training session your effort will be evaluated by the coaches and Trainer Scott.  You have the opportunity to earn up to 3 points for each workout.  If you do an outstanding job you will be awarded 3 points, if you do above average work you will be awarded 2 points, if you do an average job you will be awarded 1 point.  If you do not show in the weight room on a particular day you will be awarded 0 points.  If you miss more than 10% of the scheduled workouts, each workout after the 10% (approximately 9 sessions) you will receive a -1 point for each missed workout.

Each member of our program will have a card in the weight room which will be filled out on a daily basis by the coaches who are evaluating effort.  Every two weeks your points will be tallied and added to your teams overall score.

It is our belief that we will motivate each other to work hard in all the areas, which will lead to success on and off the field.
