MIke is in his 2nd year as a Central Catholic coach, although he has made a huge contribution to the program as a CYO coach over the past years; many of the current Ram stars got their start with Mike's CYO Track Club - Wiltshire, Bergmann, Morgan, Beltramo, Klotz - and were introduced to CC by Coach Bergmann. As an athlete Mike was a 2nd team All-State runner and competed at the University of Arizona . He has worked for NIKE for 23 years and lives in SW Portland with his wife Elaine and four children, Taylor, Meeghan, Erin, and Peter.

Kate has loved the sport of cross country since she got her first taste as a competitor in the 4th grade. She is originally from Seattle, WA where she attended Bishop Blanchet High School -- four seasons of track; two seasons x-country converted soccer player. After high school she attended the University of Portland and upon graduation began coaching at Bishop Blanchet in Seattle and prior to moving to St. Bonventure in Ventura, CA.  Kate and her husband and were excited to return to the Northwest last year.  Kate is in her first year at Central Catholic teaching Junior and Freshman English.  In her free time she enjoys walking her black lab, Hank, with my husband.

Assistant Girls Coach Emily Ferguson

Emily ran CYO track at All Saints School, then ran both cross country and track at Central Catholic. Sandy Dickerson, Dave Frank and Alberto Salazar were some of her coaches while running as a Ram. She went on to run all four years at Seattle University, and was the women's team captain for cross country, indoor and outdoor track her senior and junior years. In college, she ran the 800m and 1500m races and was all-conference in the 800m in indoor and outdoor track. She graduated from Seattle University in 2005.

Emily currently teaches pre-school at St. Agatha Catholic School and plans on going for her masters in teaching next year. She just ran her first marathon and qualified for the Boston Marathon, which she plans to run in April 2007.
