2008 RAMCamp and Rookie League

 for Grades 8 and 9

Logistics

  • RAMCamp will be held in the gyms at Central Catholic High School (CCHS) 2401 SE Stark.
  • There will be two sessions:
    1. Monday to Thursday  June 23-26  1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
    2. Monday to Thursday  June 30-July 3 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Sessions are identical so please select one of the two on the registration form.
  • Rookie League is held at CCHS May 20 to June 21. The weekly schedule varies and is to be announced.

Michael Petrino- Head Coach at Central Catholic High School. Mike has been a teacher and coach at Central Catholic for seven years. He just completed his second year as Boy's Basketball Head Coach by leading the Rams to another conference title. Born and raised in Montana, Mike has been coaching at the high school level for 15 years. His teams are characterized by their up-tempo style of play.

Bob Osborn- Bob is a retired Teacher/Coach who returned for his second stint as a coach in the Ram basketball program three years ago. He is currently the Freshman boys coach, but during his 30 plus years of coaching he has coached both boys and girls teams at all levels. Bob and recently retired Coach Steve Halligan coached together in the "Pine Street Palace (CCHS old gym) during the 70s and 80s.

2008 Camp staff also includes: Other members of the CCHS coaching staff and and varsity players.

Camp Description

  • This Camp is designed to aid the Junior High School player in his transition to high school basketball.
  • Instruction at the camp is intense and is intended to provide each player a preview of what will be expected at the high school level.
  • Each day's instruction emphasizes the fundamental aspects of the game.
    1. Footwork / pivoting
    2. Passing
    3. Shooting/ Dribbling
    4. Rebounding
    5. Defense
    6. Teamwork
  • Campers will enjoy competitive drills and games every day.

  • Official camp T-shirt to all participants.

NOTE:  Fall 2008 9th graders who wish to participate in the camp must be enrolled at Central Catholic High School for the 2008-09 school year.

Rookie League    (Updated Schedule Below!!)

Every summer the CCHS Boys Basketball Coaching Staff provides a second venue (in addition to the Summer camp) for incoming freshmen to improve their basketball skills, meet future classmates and get acquainted with the RAM Hoop Program. The RAM ROOKIE LEAGUE is only for registered, incoming freshmen who are serious "hoopsters". The weekly schedule varies, but the Rookie League is currently scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00PM May 20 and 21. The remaining schedule schedule for May and June is to be announced. The Rookie League meets at Central Catholic High School and we work on fundamentals, introduce the CCHS Speed Game and play lots of games. The cost for the Rookie League is $45.00. If you also register for RAM HOOP CAMP (June 23-26 or June 30-July 3), you will receive a $15.00 discount for Rookie League.

Registration and Fees

The cost of the RAM camp is $100 which includes a camp T-shirt.  The cost for Rookie League is $45. The combination of RAMCamp and Rookie League is $130.
