BOYS BASKETBALL
Welcome to another hoops season here at Central Catholic High School. I want to start by thanking all the generous sponsors who make this program possible, and at the same time support all our athletic programs. Many of you have been providing support for the CCHS sports programs for multiple years now. Thank you for helping all our student-athletes.
I’m told over and over that a new era begins. Let’s first recognize and thank the man responsible for the longest era Central Catholic has ever experienced. After more than two decades as Head Coach, Steve Halligan announced his retirement from coaching last spring. I had the pleasure of working for Coach Halligan for the previous five years. I witnessed first hand his love and admiration for Central Catholic High School. His longevity may never be matched. Fortunately for us, he still plans to continue teaching in our Social Studies department. Thank you Steve for all your hard work and dedication.
I am very humbled and honored to be the next Head Boys’ Basketball coach at Central Catholic High School. We have a tremendous school and community here and I pledge to give everything I can to our players and students. We have excellent coaches who have already poured countless hours into our program starting last spring and throughout the summer. Our team this year is “new” and we hope to “improve” everyday. After graduating seventy percent of our scoring and playing time, opportunities are there for our eager players. We had a great summer that brought us new adventures and now our time is here.
Before I finish I would like everyone to take a moment and think about one special player who is on our roster in spirit. David Heller’s tragic passing occurred last season before our first game. This would have been David’s senior season. We are left with only the inspiration that his family gives us every time we see them. David, we are playing hard for you and we miss you.
Thank you again for all your support. GO RAMS!
