Food, Coat, Blanket, and Penny Drive
November has always been the month where the students of Central Catholic enter into a friendly competition to benefit those in need of Food, Coats, Blankets, and of course pennies for the Downtown Chapel! This year we are trying something we have never tried before. Each grade was asked to create a Youtube promoting a particular part of the Food Drive campaign. The classes will spend the next couple weeks trying to see who can get the most views for a spirit point bonus towards our class wide spirit competition taking place throughout the school year. Each day will have a spirit bonus as well as a $100 penny bonus towards their class penny jars. The kick-off assembly showcased all the videos as well as several competitions. The Juniors won a Ram of the Year relay race led by Sarah Schneider and Greg Cruz to earn 100 spirit points for the Juniors.Freshmen won the penny run at the opening assembly with over $600 brought in. Over $1200 raised at the assembly (a new record). Assembly guest speakers were Ed Curtin ’68, Father Bob Loughery from the Downtown Chapel and Veronica Kennedy from St. Vincent De Paul. The grades are working with different departments (Production Teams) to strategize how to win the various aspects of the Food Drive to take the overall Cup O Soup Trophy. For more photos click here!
The Youtube views will be the tiebreaker this year for the Cup. The theme this year is Primetime ’09.

Live Mascots Ram Their Way Onto Campus
Landscaping crews are thrilled that Central Catholic has two new rams to chew us onto victory!
Student Activities Director, Matt "Horne", compared head gear as he rammed his way into the middle of the commotion, while onlookers questioned just how many more "horns" the campus can manage. Thanks to sophomore transfer student Remy Elledge, whose family owns the two furry wonders, these two guys will be ramming their way into the hearts of Central Catholic fans this season.Students signed-up at the club fair to become official trainers for the new Rams which could prove to be a tough job to tackle. There most likely will be a naming contest to come-up with the best possible names for our new furry mascots!
Spirit Week! We've Got Spirit Yes We Do!
Spirit week kicked off on Monday with Collegiate Day as kids wore their favorite college sweatshirts and teachers represented their Alma Mater. Ducks, Beavers, Pilots, and many others could be seen throughout the school. Being a college Prep school has never been more apparent as the students dreams were on display for all to see.

The week continued on Tuesday with Revenge of the Nerds day. Students came dressed as their favorite geek or in some cases, as themselves.
Wednesday students will "sport" their favorite jersey, Thursday is class color day! Which class will rule the wave of color in the hallways. Seniors took control at the "Back to School" Assembly in a strong showing of red in the bleachers. Juniors in blue, sophomores in green, and freshmen in yellow will try to take back the halls during Spirit Week.
Of course Friday is school color day. Show your support for the big Homecoming game by wearing Cardinal and Gold. The week wraps up with Homecoming Dance Saturday night.
Welcome Back Activities
At Central Catholic we celebrate the start of a new school year with the Welcome Back Assembly and the Welcome Back Dance. This year's assembly included student films and the kick-off of a year long student spirit contest between the classes. Every class this year has been assigned a color and the Seniors started the competition strong with an impressive showing of red in their section.
The Welcome Back Dance was a resounding success with its theme of Class Colors. Each class turned out to represent with the Seniors dressed in red, the Juniors in blue, the Sophomores in green, and the Freshmen in yellow. It was a kaleidoscope of humanity. Fun and spirit was had by all and with the more formalhomecoming only a few weeks away there will be plenty of chances to add to the growing sense of school spirit!
