Personal Counseling
Central Catholic recognizes that students will not perform well academically if they are struggling with personal issues. We therefore approach the students as a whole person with important needs outside the academic arena.
Through personal counseling, some goals are to:
- help students accept and respect their uniqueness
- enhance students' ability to interact respectfully and confidently with others
- help students to recognize and communicate emotions in a healthy way
The counselors all have advanced degrees and training, and promote healthy life choices through prevention, education and intervention in the following areas:
- chemical abuse
- eating disorders
- sexuality
- career choices
- anger management
- depression
- self-esteem
- relationships
We primarily work with students 1:1, but provide additional services as well:
- crisis intervention
- family meetings
- peer mediation
