COLLEGE COUNSELING
At Central Catholic, we realize that students have many choices about their future; however, over 95% of our students will attend a two- or four-year college or university. Central Catholic is therefore committed to providing its student body with ample resources to aid in the college selection process:
- Individualized four-year plan - Students work with their counselor to develop a plan to prepare for college that is reviewed annually.
- Full-time College Counselor – During second semester of the junior year, Teri Calcagno works with students and families in conjunction with the counseling staff. She is currently serving as the Past-President of the Pacific Northwest Association for College Admission Counseling. Ms. Calcagno also assists on the planning committee for the Portland National College Fair each fall.
- College planning events - Students and families receive information and are encouraged to attend local college fairs, and the CCHS College Information Night and Senior College Night. Over sixty colleges and universities visit annually allowing students to meet with admissions representatives at our school. Students also have an opportunity to explore possible career options through classroom exploration and the school’s annual Career Day.
- Information sharing - A monthly college planning newsletter is sent to all junior families beginning in December and all senior families throughout the year. Information about summer opportunities and internships is also provided throughout the year.
